Mike Myers is also voting..
“I’ll be voting for Little Britain in the Big Apple because, as a New
Yorker of British Heritage, I think it’s important for the City of New York to
continue the tradition of designating certain areas of the city to celebrate various
cultural traditions. God Save the Queen. “

and this will be reciprocated how? to the best of my knowledge there’s no “big apple” or “little USA” nabe in the heart of leichester square. perhaps you’re all still bitter over that 1775 incident? until then, shag off. (and a gentle marketing tip, in order to make your case you might also want to enlist someone above the celebrity C list.)

Tell us who you like and we’ll ask them to vote.

Celebrity C List? Well we didn’t like to do it, but we unfortunately had to come down to your yankie level, as these seem to be the only sort of people that you lot look up to nowadays, whereas in good old Great Britain, we’ve looked up to, you know, a proper monarchy and system of government, for, you know, CENTURIES AND CENTURIES.

settle! settle! We’re all friends here. There’s nothing wrong with Mike Myers.. and just a follow up to Davids comment, there’s no need for a Little USA because #1, places like McDonalds are so prolific it would be pointless, and there are few places where American immigrants are concentrated enough to support an entire neighborhood, wouldn’t you agree?

Hello, I just heard about you guys on the BBC World Service…. I dunno…. about half an hour ago. Well done, and good luck with the campaign.
P.S. I used to live round the corner, at 4th @ Bank. About 9 years ago I cast the guy who co-owns Tea & Sympathy in a radio commercial for Long John Silver’s. Long story.

Hi, ultimately I think the whole ex-pat thing is a bit of a red herring. Anglophilia is a badge worn with pride in the good ol’ USA, the UK is viewed more positively then any other country and in a city that will get 38 million domestic tourists this year creating a destination will benefit all the businesses in the area. And, we have created an international PR story for the city.

Mike Myers is a comedy genius. Sort of. So www.zipit.com. I support your campaign to make a corner of a foreign field (neighbourhood) forever England (er, Britain). Go for it chaps and chapesses!

Come on - this is just a marketing ploy to bring more business to tea and sympathy and a salt and battery. which may not be a bad thing if I can still get my fish and chips. from a brit who lives nearby.
Comment by Mark — March 24, 2007 @ 2:42 pm
I think ‘ploy’ is a little unfair, granted the idea was conceived for Tea & Sympathy and Virgin, there are good reasons why those two businesses should lead it, T&S over the 17 years they have been there have put alot into the community and “Little Britain”, Virgin’s inaugral flight was to NYC, their first office was around the corner on Perry St and their business is built around connecting NY and London. And yes, why shouldn’t they benefit from driving this?
However, that being said, creating a Anglophile destination in a country full of Anglophiles, in a city that will get 38 million domestic tourists this year, is clearly going to benefit the whole business community in the neighborhood, and, it’s also becoming an international PR story that benefits the whole city.
Not often you can say one company’s marketing actually benefits other businesses too. Right?

I love the Brit’s, I love New York. So, I’ve signed the petition. Bloody hell, a little Brit’ of New York is about time. There’s a whole lotta Brit’ in Old York…

W-w-w-wait, England doesn’t need a “Little America” or “Little Big Apple” because McDonald’s is so common there? Not for nothin’ but that is extremely depressing. I’d rather not be known as the nation that launched a thousand shits. Juss sayin.
Also- last time I checked Myers is from Scarborough, Ontario. I’d LOVE to see a “Little Scarborough” — maybe in East Williamsburg or industrial Greenpoint?
